Subject: Synopsis and analysis of Daybreak Part I (S4XE19) spoilers galore!!
Date: 6 Mar 2009
Newsgroups: alt.battlestar-galactica

Well, here we are at the penultimate episode. Actually it is the

first part of the three part three hour long final episode, but since
it is shown over two weeks with Part two being a two hour spectacular
finale next week well say this is the last one hour episode. The ride
is almost over. Soon all the people we come attached to will meat
their ultimate fates to live after the final show down somewhere or
die. As I write this I haven't seen the episode yet. Maybe Boomer
will die tonight. God knows there isn't a human final Five Cylon that
will speak for her and most will kill her on sight, never mind a
trial, most of all the Agathons. I am sure every Cavil will be
treated like Buffalo but that is probably for next week's two hour
finale. This week Galactica is going to be stripped of everything
useful. Everyone knows in the newsgroup what is coming. Hera's
projection/vision and Anders getting the ability to jump the ship as
Galactica's hybrid. I predict a ramming or even the Galactica being
sailed right into the Cylon homeworld and blown up. Again, no big
deal prediction, not after we saw Hera ramming a Galactica model into
a Baseship. I wonder if they will leave the memorial walls up? Will
the crew take back the photos or let them symbolically and reality be
consumed with the ship. We all know from last week's preview that the
Tighs, Starbuck, Caprica Six. They didn't show it in the Previews but
you can bet Helo and Athena are going, most definitely. I do believe
Baltar is going as well Baltar, Caprica Six and of course Athena will
be chasing Hera, just like the prophecy said. The only one missing is
Roslin, will she go somehow, convince Adama to let her stay on
Kamikaze Galactica? I think she will. And Kara Thrace is the
Harbinger of Death, Death to the cavils. I've have talked enough in
this prologue of mine I will talk again next week when I will be in a
MAJOR depression over the show ending. I hate it. Spoiler space.

Prologue

This is an unusual prologue It emerges seamlessly with the "last time
on BSG" shots this one comes in with the voice over from last week as
we see crewmen both flight deck crew and Cylons from the Baseship
directing civilian passengers-residents really-of Galactica to
various shuttle craft to move them to the Cylon Baseship including a
Six and two Eights in black flight suits doing foot traffic control
on the Hanger deck.

Adama [Voice Over] We're abandoning ship Tigh. Put out the orders I
want the crews to start stripping down Galactica. Packing all the
weapons and gear. Gonna start off loading civilians by tomorrow.

[Scene shifts to space vantage point of several small ships streaming
from the Baseship to Galactica to pick up her residents to transfer
to the Baseship]

Adama: [V.O] Full crews and ordinances transferred by the end of the
week. To Galactica: Best ship in the Fleet.

Tigh [actual scene: Saul raises his glass and clinks it with
Adama's]: To Galactica.

End Prologue

Population count: 39,516 Then no war drums, no commercial break. We
go directly into Act I

Act I

Scene opens with a spectacular view from outer space. We are over
looking our Galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy, or at least that is what we
humans on Earth in reality call it. What the Capricans call it we
don't know.

Scene shifts to a pigeon in a building under a skylight looking for a
way out and freedom of the Daybreak. Scene dissolves and then
resolves over a blue planet with blue water and brown land masses and
puff white clouds. It looks like the famous Apollo   picture Earth
Rise depicting a rising Earth from the view point of the moon. Behind
the planet is its Star and it rises from behind it. Dissolve, Resolve
and we see watter falling from the air onto a large body of water. A
small water fall? Dissolve, Resolve and we are back in orbit of the
Blue white and brown sphere. We past serenely over it as if we are in
Earth's Space Shuttle but a little higher orbit. Dissolve, Resolve:
We find ourselves as if flying in a helicopter at high speed over a
harbor toward a great City. We see a familiar vessel. It is what will
be known as Colonial One. We realize that this was not Earth, but
Caprica! We  speed past the future Colonial One sitting on a landfill
pier with at least two other ships like it heading for the
Metropolis's downtown district. Before us appear the words:

"Caprica City
Before the Fall"

We plunge into the heart of the City. The the scene shifts and we
hear a familiar slightly gravely voice:

Commander Adama [seated and in civilian suit]: I've commanded I've
Commanded Two Battlestars and three escorts before that.

Man: Come on Bill, don't be like that. There's nothing to get all
upset about.

Adama: Billions of Cubits entrusted to me not to mention thousands of
lives

Man [irritated] Its one hour of your life. Look, sometimes there are
things you just gotta do. [with finality] All right?

Adama doesn't say anything just accepts the inevitable.

Obviously they were talking about both his and Galactica's retirement
ceremony. "It's one hour of your life" One hour the ceremony was
supposed to last Instead in a few days perhaps hours all hell will
break loose and four years of that broke loose hell with be the bane
of Adama's life instead of retirement-or atomic death. Of course all
this assumes I got the timeline right.

We fly over roof tops of the Caprican City It looks like any
American/Canadian big town of the Early 21st Century Earth). Couldn't
tell New Caprica from Vancouver at all. We fly over a broad four lane
street. We see a *long* black limo making its way through. We aim for
the roof to go through it and we are there. Behold. it is Doctor
Giaus Baltar with a platinum haired woman. The woman that would
become Caprica Six in the future. In truth the Harbinger of Death to
the 12 Colonies including Caprica. She says despite their *both*
being in the rear seat of the limo a mile away from the chauffeur:
You always drink and drive" she inexplicably ask as Baltar, dressed
in a completely white clothing sips a adult beverage from a glass. In
contrast the future Caprica Six who is also enjoying the limo's stock
of booze, is dressed in black with her feet propped up on the
longitudinal couch in front of her. Baltar's right foot is jammed
against the bar. "I drink, he drives" referring to the chauffeur. C6
remakes that Baltar likes having things done for him. "Certainly
beats having to do them yourself" he says. He follows up with a
"Don't you?" to Caprica Six but she says she prefers to rely on
others as little as possible."Less chance of being let down that way"
as she caresses Baltar's inner left thigh suggestively. They look at
each other knowingly and Baltar remarks that since she put herself in
his capable hands they toast that he won't let her down. And down the
last of their drinks.

Baltar: You can um...You can call me Giaus actually, if you want

[Giaus and Six puts down their near empty glasses and Giaus turns
back to her]

Baltar: Uh, this is crazy But I've actually forgotten your name---
[She plants a wet one on Giaus]

They were getting hot and heavy with Caprica Six being the clear
aggressor getting on top of him. Then his car phone rang. At first
the conversation is pleasant "hello how are you?" Then Baltar sits
upright totally ignoring Caprica Six with a "What!?" He frees himself
from Caprica's grip to put his full attention on the phone call with
a look of fright on his face. He tells the person on the other end of
the line to wait there and he will be there as soon as he can.
Meanwhile Caprica Six looks pissed at Baltar who looks increasingly
desperate. He is practically pleading with the man on the line not to
go. Then Baltar's attitude changes on a dime and says "You will wait
there or I'll sue you for abandonment, Yeah I will!" The other person
then wants to know how long it is going to take He  tells him again
looking kind of desperate "Just---Just wait. I'm coming I'm coming
right now.

Scene shifts to a woman in a door way bidding goodbye cheerfully. We
see her from the POV of inside the house behind and to the side of
her. She looks familiar. She closes the door and turns toward us. It
is Laura Roslin. She lets out a semi jocular sigh of relief to a
person she sees off camera. The camera shifts and we see a very
pregnant woman on a small couch laughing uproariously along with
Roslin.. It is the after math of a baby shower. Laura Roslin is the
picture of health without a care int the world-or the Galaxy. A third
woman makes an appearance with a bottle and the third women pour
herself and Roslin a drink among giggles. "What about me?" the
Preggers girl ask. And is gracefully declined with "Pregnant Girls
only get Gifts" Roslin says. The woman of the hour ask for just a sip
and Roslin acquiesces. She takes her sip with Roslin yelling stop one
second later an dutifully takes the glass away from the girl. She
sits down next to the girl with a hint of exhaustion and he third
girl sits besides her. The pregnant woman voices her appreciation and
thanks. Roslin puts her left arm around her shoulders saying "Well,
it's the least I could do for my little sister" and takes a sip of
her drink. The third woman says "Hey I thought I was your little
sister!" with good humor mocking. Roslin stops short of her sip and
drapes her other arm around her. Okay, you are my really little
sister" Roslin says looking like she got both of them in a headlock
as they lean against big sis shoulders. They then joke about a party
event about a woman that was with Ms. Anderson and they all bust out
giggling. Roslin looks like a little girl. Her sisters must be at
least 20 years and 25 years younger than her but Roslin feels just as
young and vital as they do. Their giggles end in a unintended
harmonious song note of a sigh, which sends them giggling again.

Scene abruptly shifts to an arm with a familiar tattoo. The camera
pans up and we see then Lt. Kara Thrace making dinner. The doorbell
rings "Oh frak me he's early!" She stirs something in the frying pan
in the last second. Then she bolted into the living room shouting
"coming!" then *up* the stairs in the unusual (to me anyway)
apartment. Then she reaches the door to reveal Lee Adama on her
threshold holding a bouquet of red, yellow and white flowers. After
an awkward moment of them stepping on the start of their sentences
she says "I'm sorry, I'm Kara. Come on in." It is the first time they
ever met. Blind date maybe? She heads down the stars calling for Zak,
Lee Adama's brother. Lee says its a nice place. Kara implies it is
not so nice being a rat trap but the rent is cheep. Lee insist that
it is a nice place. Personally I wouldn't want to climb up stairs to
get the door but otherwise it was a nice place. "No..it's
ah..It's....It's got real charm." he insist. "And you're a terrible
liar. We should play cards!" "I hold my own" I'm sure you do! They
playfully banter. Kara calls for her real boyfriend again as he
appears to his brother making a comment that Lee gets uglier every
day and they embraced. "I see you've met my better half and this
one's mine keep your hands off. Zak says to his bro. perhaps only
half jokingly. "And a girlfriend stealer for a brother nice!" Kara
says carrying on the joke. Lee awkwardly "Aw shucks" a protest that
he never stole his girlfriend.Zak says to his girlfriend "He's a
really bad liar, right here!" She already figured that out she joked!
She tells Zak to get the drinks since dinner is almost ready and kiss
Zak. "Yes sir." Zak says. It was kiddingly but we are reminded that
Kara is his flight trainer. Kara doesn't seem to have a care in the
world. Great times that are going to start to come to an end with
Zak's death.

Scene shifts to Baltar's place. he is having a spirited argument with
an old man and an old woman. Apparently as the woman tells it the old
man stabbed her with a stake knife and nothing in her contract
mentioned that. She is obviously his-or was his-caretaker The old man
sitting and using his cane as a pointer accuses the care taker with
stealing.. Baltar, obviously not the first time this has happened,
insist loudly that no one is stealing from him in the same manner you
would use with someone who insist that the world is flat despite all
evidence. He tells the old man to shut up and that he is in enough
trouble. The departing care taker tells them they are lucky that she
doesn't call the cops. "Yes, yes we are nurse Barbara" he says.
Despite this drama Baltar offers to pay Nurse Barbara double then
triple her salary as Caprica Six looks on. Baltar notices her and
annoyed asked her if he told her to wait in the care. In a line that
will become a classic BSG line the old man says who by now figured
out that is Baltar's father says "This be the new one you be banging
eh?" pointing his cane at the platinum blond into what is to Earth's
ears could be a Scottish accent. The Nurse flees out the door and
Baltar bolts around Caprica Six to the door way shouting after the
nurse pleading that he will pay her 500 cubits, no a thousand cubits!
Its no avail. Shouting after her which I a sure the whole
neighborhood earing:

Baltar [yelling after Nurse Barbara]: A 1,000 frakkin cubits for you
to stay the night! Please! I'll take all the knives away! [Baltar's
dad revels in his son's frustration] HE'LL BE ON LIQUID DIET FOREVER.
[Cap Six and the old man regard each other]. {He likes what he sees}
JUST SPEND ONE FRAKKIN NIGHT!!

Julius Baltar [to Cap Six]: Bet you charge a lot more than that eh?!

Baltar [charging back in] Shut your filthy mouth!! Stop being so
disgusting!!

Cap Six: This is your father Giaus...

Julius: Not that you ever know it! You see Giaus is ashamed of his
family! Even his.....

Baltar [in here we go" manner and paces] I need this like a fucking
hole in the head.

Julius: ...accent! Stupid bastard actually changed his accent! Would
you believe that?

Baltar [holding up three fingers to Dad] That is the *third* nurse in
a row now dad! [holding up three fingers] The third nurse!! [pause
voice more conversational] Do you have any idea how much this is
costing me?

Julius [in "who cares?" mode and shaking his head]: How much it coast
That's all he cares about now. Not the way he was brought up I can
tell ya! But he don't like to think about that! No, He don't like to
think about living on the farm and doing a days work....

Baltar [moving toward dad] ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT! [picks up
a newspaper] ENOUGH! [starts to flail and hit his father with it]
ENOUGH! SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP RIGHT NOW!! [dad raises his cane in
defense as Baltar stops]  I WON'T STAND YOU ONE MOMENT LONGER
LISTENING TO YOUR RIDICULOUS WORKING CLASS HERO RANT!! [points at dad
Uncle Sam style] LOOK AT YOU!!! LOOK AT THE SHIRT THAT I BOUGHT YOU!!
HOW YOU DRIBBLE AND TREAT THESE THINGS!! I'LL BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU
DAD! YOU'RE AN OBNOXIOUS, SPITEFUL, CANTANKEROUS OLD GIT [near tears]
AND YOU'RE FRAKKIN LUCKY YOU NOT LIVING ON THE FRAKKIN STREET!!!!

Julius [while moving like a music band conductor]: Big man cursing
his father! Make you feel important do it?

Caprica Six [walking toward Baltar]: Giaus maybe we should---

Baltar:[normal voice with a tinge of humiliation] Maybe you should
had stayed in the car like I asked you to do. [facade of upper-class
politeness] I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave now. [He
turns and walks to the door threshold. Caprica Six follows] I'm sure
that the driver can see you to your home. [sniffles] I am gonna spend
the rest of this lovely evening with my dad. Good night.

Julius blows her a kiss. Caprica Six makes a "Toodle Loo" goodbye
motion with her right hand as does he. She turns holds Baltar's hand
in her left in affection for a moment below the range of the TV
screen and leaves. Dad hits the floor lightly five times with his
cane while smiling devilishly as if in a victory dance of some kind.
Baltar comes in and closes the door behind him regarding his father
while leaning on the support.

Scene shifts to another apartment and a door bell ringing. running
bare feet on hardwood floors make their way to the front door as we
pan up and we see Education Secretary Roslin closing her bathrobe.
She gets to the door to the left side is a floor to ceiling window
like transparency and she can see two police officers beyond it. She
cautiously opens the door. Both officers are holding their uniform
caps in their hands. "Good Morning I'm Officer Stephanie and this is
Officer Shawn with the Caprica City Police. Are you Laura Roslin?"
The police woman asked in professional tones. Roslin pauses for a
full four seconds before responding "Yes I am" in subdued manner,
clearly foreboding what news the officers have which in this
situation is NEVER good, NEVER insipid. Almost always tragic. The
policewoman says that they need to speak with her and may they please
come inside. Roslin says yes. CCPD uniforms are black (or very dark
blue)  with silver rank and service length hash marks with a sky blue
uniform shirt and black (or very dark blue) tie. They don't speak for
a few seconds as Roslin fiddles with the buttons of her robe in dread
as she heads to the couch and sits down with the cops following suit
in the chairs at the opposite ends of the coffee table that is in
front of Roslin officer Stephanie to her left, Ofc. Shawn an older
man and more senior to Ofc. Stephanie, who is probably a rookie,  to
her right. Ofc. Stephanie makes the notification:

Ofc. Stephanie: We're so sorry we have to inform you.....[at that
Roslin looks highly agitated] there's been a terrible accident. Late
last night your sisters and your father were all killed. We weren't
able to verify the identities of the bodies until a few hours ago.
The driver of the other vehicle...

[Laura gets up an "calmly" walks to her right passed where Ofc. Shawn
was sitting. Ofc. Stephanie gets up with her but doesn't follow. Ofc.
Shawn gets up to watch if she faints or something. Roslin just braces
herself on an end table and the back of Shawn's chair].

Ofc. Stephanie:....is in stable condition and preliminary test
indicate he was intoxicated. when he side swiped the car with your
father and your sisters.

Roslin [in tone we are more familiar with]: Thank you please show
yourselves out.

Ofc. Stephanie We're sorry for your loss.

The two police officers make their way out of the emotional hell of a
death notification, this one particularly tragic with four people
lost; Roslin's two sisters, her father and of course the middle
sister's unborn baby. Horrific. The officer close the door behind
them. Then the scene jumps and Roslin is packing up the remains of
the baby shower into a box and bags. Another cut of her literally
spinning in her apartment Then she sees a photo graph of herself, her
baby sisters and her father. She looks like she considers something
and she walks out of the apartment dressed only in her pajamas and
bathrobe and in bare feet. She doesn't lock the door but leaves it
wide open. She walks to a near by park. Her pjs looking enough like
outdoors clothes not to attract attention. She in fact looks like she
is in a dress probably could get away with wearing it to a cocktail
party. She reaches a small pool with a large fountain in the middle.
She looks at it for a long while, standing at the edge. No one pays
her any mind. Just another patron enjoying the beautiful spring day
and the beauty of the fountain. Some people are sitting on the edge
dipping their feet in the cool water. She stands there further. A
tight shot on her face shows how devastated she feels but no tears
fall. Is she contemplating drowning herself? I doubt she would be
successful with so many people around. She is breathing hard. Then
she seems to start to sit down to dip her bare feet in like the girl
in orange to her right. But instead of remaining seated she stands up
in the shin deep water and wades across. Now a few people notices her
and then more. Roslin reaches a rock sculpture that is in the middle
of three fountain water jets that are shooting water into the air in
a triangle formation with the tops of the spray meeting 15 feet in
the air and falling back down to-Caprica-and the sculpture. Roslin of
course is sopping wet. She then with her eyes closed she leans back
against the ersatz rock and lets the main made torrent fall on her.
She spreads her arms out and looks skyward. The full force of the
falling water hitting her. Everyone is looking at her now. If she is
crying her tears is mingled with the waters. Perhaps that is why she
is there. She couldn't cry but the fountain, in its torrent of water,
reflects the torrent of tears in her that she can't express in her
shock. She cries in torrents.

Then the scene shifts to reality of the present day and an IV drip.
The torrent of water which was her life, reduced to a single drop of
fluid every few seconds. Roslin the dying leader and for all we know
the last of her family, is in her sickbay bed wordlessly being looked
after by Dr. Cottle and Ishay.

Scene shifts to hanger deck and President Lee Adama is furiously
signing off orders.over the distribution of Galactica's equipment.
The request seems to make it look like they are retiring ten
Battlestars. The President tells his secretary to go back to the ship
captains and tell them that they are padding their request by way of
telling them that he knows it. Then he turns his attention to
Specialist  Delino who had previously tried to get his attention
while Lee was signing forms. This is the same human male the Natalie
Type Six life had saved to the cost of her own. After another moment
he hears the Specialist complaint about an unnamed they want them to
tear out the mag-cellerators from the launch tubes.  Lee tells him
that the civilian ships could used them as auto loaders. The mag
cellerators, essentially a giant rail gun, is what launches the
Vipers out of the launch tubes. "Sir its like we're tearing the old
Girl's heart out. A Battlestar's whole purpose is to launch Vipers."
Delino says Lee knows exactly how he feels. part of his heart is with
Galactica too. He considers for a long moment and then tells Delino
to make the Cellerators the last thing his men removes. "Then  turn
out the lights and let the old girl die in peace." a saddened Lee
Adama says about the ship they both love. "Yes sir" Delino says and
moves off to his duties. Lee still has a very thoughtful look on his
face long after Delino leaves.

End Act I

Act II

We come facing a box with "This side up" printed on the leaves with
hands pushing down the contents of the brown box. and interlocking
the leaves. The hands lifts the box and we see it is Admiral Adama
packing up. He places the first box on the table and finishes packing
another one. He places small books and framed photographs including
one of a little boy. Is it his son Lee, Zak? Himself as a child? The
Admiral closes the box and we see his future address:

TRANSFER TO:

ADMIRAL'S QRTS
CYLON BASESHIP,
DECK 74

He closes the box's leaves and then stops to look around for a moment
with a pained look. It pains him to do this.

Scene sifts to Giaus Baltar as he lights a cigarette. No worries
about a emotionally abusive father anymore. Paulla Schaffer who seems
to have her respect and admiration for Baltar back, is giving him the
political rundown of how many of his followers are throughout the
fleet. She tells him that they have "solid majorities in over half of
the civilian ships in the fleet. "No one else even comes close to
having that kind of political power!" Our time is here, Giaus! Then
Baltar's Virtual Six appears and tells him that Paulla is right, but
not in the way she means. "The end times are approaching, Humanity's
final chapter is about to be written. And you, you will be its
author." she tells him with gravitas. Paulla breaks him out of his
seeming reverie by saying this is it. Then a flash of memory and
scene shifts to the now distant-relatively speaking-past. at Baltar's
cliffside home the same one that will be destroyed all around him in
the attack. He is bringing home yet another sexual conquest. He was
asking her if she was thirsty when he spots and intruder, an intruder
with near platinum blond hair, sitting in one of his chairs. Baltar
demands what is she doing there. She doesn't responds or even turn
around to acknowledge his presence. He presses as to why she is there
and how she got in. Still no acknowledgment. Then Baltar's latest
female friend speaks up suggesting that she leave but before she
finished expressing the suggestion Baltar tells her to go upstairs
turn left enter the bedroom and get ready." and he kisses her on the
neck. After she goes upstairs he turns his attention to the Blond
interloper and threatens her with a call to the police if she doesn't
leave. Caprica Six then gets up and heads toward Baltar who quickly
backs away almost through his picture window. Mind you this is before
he knew she was a Cylon, yes she is taller than him but C'mon! Anyway
he says while in full retreat "Fine! Fine if that is the way you want
to play it then  uh..then ....see I'm ringing the police. I'm
dialing.....Hello? Police department please." Then C6 blurts out
"I've found your father a new place to live" she says. At first
Baltar doesn't realize what she had just said. "Yeah I like to
repo...." Baltar cuts himself short. He ask "What!?" C6 tells him
that she got Julius a place to stay at the regency, assisted living
place in a toney section of Caprica City down by the wharf probably
the equivalent of the upper East side in New York City. It has full
time care medical staff social activities "...and the best part: They
encourage residents to garden and grow their own food. Julius would
be a farmer again." Baltar doesn't seem please. He walks away-but she
doesn't follow-as she tells him that the staff is moving his stuff
out of the apartment and into his room exactly as it was in his
apartment and that he loves it. This makes Baltar stop just short of
the door. He turns around and says "Loves?" C6 then starts to walk
toward him telling him once she showed him around the facilities. He
loved it. She tells him that his father "...is a very complicated man
but there's a few, simple things makes him very happy." She pushes
the facilities brochure into his chest and he takes it. She heads for
the door. She opens it to leave but stops and says to Baltar. The
last time I saw him, he seemed happy" and walks out. Earlier it was
established by C6 that Baltar likes things done for him as apposed to
doing them himself. Was C6 moving his father into a new home a thing
she did for him?

Scene shifts back to the present and a tapping pen of a person trying
to figure something out. We see a pad with musical notation and
algebraic equations trying to transliterate the musical notes into
mathematics. Starbuck is trying mightily to figure out what the notes
mean but is thus far unsuccessful. Meanwhile The being that used to
be Samuel Anders lies dormant unconnected.

Scene shifts to CIC and Lt. Louis Hoshi is wiping up a coffee spill
on the tactical light table and doing a bad job of it by continuing
to use a already sopping wet clothe Galactica obviously run out of
the Colonial equivalent of Downy years ago, assuming they had a
military contract of course. Tigh looks at Hoshi as if how could he
do such a thing. "Sorry sir" says Hoshi. He continues to give Hoshi
the order before he was interrupted by Hoshi's clumsiness to tell the
deckgang to leave one lunch tube intact because the "Old Man" intends
to fly the last Viper out using remote pilot launching. Yes sir."
says Hoshi and goes back to moping up the mess with the same
saturated cloth. "You'll never make admiral like that.

Scene shifts to the brig. It is occupied by former Chief Galen Tyrol.
His fate was not determined on screen in the last episode but he was
arrested for his role in the escape of Sharon Valerii and the
kidnapping of Hera Tyrol. The scenes depicting his arrest and
incarceration were left out of the episode but will be restored for
the DVD version. In this episode his fate is revealed. He is talking
to Karl Agathon, Hera's dad and considering what Tyrol had done and
is directly responsible for the abduction of Hera Helo is
surprisingly civil even friendly with Galen. considering he was key
in the crime of his daughter's abduction even if he didn't know.
Tyrol holding the very same handset that his former love held a few
days before is for his part is trying to convince Helo that all the
Eights are the same and therefore Helo can only expect betrayal from
Athena:

Tyrol: They're all the same Karl.

Helo: No, they're different. You know they're different. How you felt
about Boomer. That was different. That's why you did what you did.

Tyrol [dismissive] Hmm. I did what I did because I'm a frakkin idiot.
A 2,000 year old idiot who cannot learn the simplest lesson: Machines
are not people, they're just machines

Helo: My wife, Athena, is a person.

Tyrol: She's a blow up doll Karl, they all are. Athena, Sharon,
Boomer call them what you will, they're all the same. They're all the
same because *we* made them the same.

Helo [has nothing to say]: ......

Tyrol [being more gentle]: Don't blame yourself but you can't trust
them. You can't trust any of them.

Helo wordlessly hangs up his hand set and walks off. Tyrol hangs up
his handset.

Scene shifts to a asteroid field and the Cylon homeworld. Inside
Hera, alive and whole, is drawing more pretty dots. Of course we know
exactly what she is doing in reality and she looks like she has an
entire musical score written out. But that is not how Cavil sees it
as he looks at Hera's work. A Doral (long time no see) is there as
well on Hera's left and also contemplating but without a clue Hera's
score:

Cavil [sitting to Hera's right]: Dots. Lots and lots of dots.
[sarcastic] She's clearly very gifted.

Simon: She hasn't eaten in days. I think we should begin intravenous
nutritional supplements to build up her strength before we begin
testing. {Holy cow! We see a Simon! I don't recall seeing a Simon
since the hub And he got lines!!}

Through out all this Boomer has stood with her back to Simon and
Cavil and the Doral with her arms folded. There is a light table
between her and the Simon. She is clearly disagreeing severely with
what they are going to do with Hera. At over hearing Simon's intended
course of treatment she turns around and leans inward over the light
table at Simon an says in firm tones

Boomer [firmly]: She wants her mother!

Cavil [impatient] Well, she can't have her mother now can she?
[Boomer looks at Cavil with disdain]

Cavil [sardonically] Oh, I'm sorry,  I-I forgot to sound all soppy
and soft when speaking of [mocking whisper] "the child". [Hera looks
at Cavil then Boomer when she speaks]

Boomer [defiant]: She is a child! A frightened one!

Cavil [standing up annoyed]: She's a half human, half machine object
of curiosity. That holds the key to our continued existence somewhere
in her genetic code. [To Simon] So lets get a tube in her and get her
ready. [Cavil leaves as does the Doral who didn't speak a word. Cavil
is clearly impatient] {he seems to be developing a dowagers hump he
is so stooped over. Is that how the character supposed to be or is
Dean Stockwell developing a problem?}

The Simon puts on latex gloves and checks some VERY forbidding
sounding drills. One whines then the other. Boomer looks on with a
set face. Hera does as well. Simon has an expression on his face that
is almost apologetic. One can hope that Boomer and Simon will scheme
to prevent Hera from becoming mulch.

End Act II

Act III

We emerge into a Galactica corridor walking behind the Admiral.
Coming the opposite way is Lt. Brenden "Hotdog" Costanza carrying his
son Nicky. Hot Dog drops a load of pictures he was carrying saying
"FRAK" in to his new son's ears. "You didn't hear that all right?"
Hot Dog says closing the barn door after hoarse was gone. The Admiral
rushes over to help pic up the photos. The pictures are pilots from
the memorial wall Hot Dog tells him. He and others wanted to take em
so they won't be left behind with the others. Adama ask "The
others?".

Hot Dog: Lotta photos still down there. Nobody knows who they are any
more. Probably friends or relatives of people on Galactica who died
somewhere along the way. [Nicky plays with his father's tee shirt
then whines] Admiral?

Adama: As you were [Hot dog continues to his destination]

Adama looks in the direction of the memorial wall and heads for
there. As he gets there the majority of the pictures are gone but
there are still quite of few images left. All now forgotten, meaning
they are now truly dead, no one remembers them now. There is no
memory of them memorialize. It is as if they never existed. Those who
remembered the dead being dead themselves. Adama examines the
smatterings of images. Then he finds one in particular. It is by its
nature a very new one, new to the wall. It is a picture of Athena on
the verge of kissing Hera on her left temple! Who left it there
specifically is factually unknown. My guess it would be Athena
herself. Helo hasn't given up his daughter for dead but Athena has.
Adama walks away from the wall and down a perpendicular corridor then
he reaches a hatchway to another corridor and steps through. He stops
as if he is not sure which direction to go then he stares at the far
bulkhead stock still like a statue as we see him from behind at a
distance. A full 10 seconds goes by and he just stands there. Then he
turns back looks back from whence he came and then heads back to the
wall. He takes down the picture and holds the image in his hands.
Then his face gets the look of a course of action being decided on
and taken and he heads off.

Scene shifts to the flight deck and the voice of a pleading Giaus
Baltar. He is harassing the President, Lee Adama for representation
for his flock on the Quorum. Lee is not open to it saying he would
"bare it in mind." Baltar recognized the code "not in this life time"
and complained that he didn't even listen to his proposal. He says
that his flock deserves a voice in the government that he talking
about the well being of the thousands of lives in the fleet . lee
scoffs at his pretensions:

Lee: Is that's what you were thinking about when you outed Starbuck's
secret? The well being of thousands of people? Or the political gain
of Giaus Baltar again?

Baltar [speechless for a few seconds]: Is that what's this is about?
[pauses]  Does everything have to be reduce to your feelings about
Kara Thrace? [Lee walks away]

Baltar [frustrated and insulted]: Listen to me...

{he grabs Lee's arm, almost a fatal mistake on Baltar's part}  [Lee
looks at him very intensely backing Baltar up a few steps]

Baltar [seeing the fire in Lee's eyes] ....Mr. Adama..... Lee, I'm
asking to have a genuine conversation....Please?

{Lee looks like he is in distress since he doesn't want to hear what
Baltar says. He feels he is going against his better judgment but
being how he is he wants to be fair. Fairness wins out.}

Lee: Five Minutes [Lee heads for some place private Baltar moves to
follow him]

Baltar [to Paulla and another girl] I'll be back in five minutes.
Five minutes inside.

Scene shifts to Starbuck's notebook as Admiral Adama examines it
studying Starbuck's attempt to mathematically break the code. Hybrid
Anders is still not hooked back up to the main power. In the bright
light, he is looking paler and paler more and more like a genuine
Hybrid., that warmed over death look. Adama asks her if he think
there is some kind of meaning in the notes  She doesn't know she is
groping mostly. She thought if she assigned numbers to the notes but
it was a forlorn hope. Adama puts down Kara's clip board and takes
about the 500 lbs gorilla in the room:

Adama: What Baltar said the other day....Is that the truth?

Starbuck: [without facing him] Yeah.......[turns to face him] I found
my body and I burned it on Earth. [Starbuck think she sees a question
on Adama's face] I don't know what I am. [Adama thinks for a bit then
turns back to the other subject]

Adama: I have to ask him a question  Do you know how to plug him in?

Yeah [she moves to turn him on but Adama catches her]

Adama: Hey! I know what you are: You're my daughter. Don't forget it!

[She considers his words and appreciates them. Then she walks over to
the cable box and connects the two leads. Anders's fist balls up and
relaxes as the power cycles up. Then Anders appears to have a memory
of his former self on Caprica. He is in a sports team locker room
sitting in another type of tank, the therapeutic jacuzzi with the
water massage, clenching and unclench his fist. It looks like what it
is, a metal bath tube. A female reporter ask since he hasn't won a
championship and the C-Bucks are in a rebuilding year would he
consider his career incomplete if he never won a championship. At
first Anders gives a boiler plate response to such questions: He's
focusing on getting stronger; helping the team anyway he can, then
realizes those answers are not adequate or honest. And he gives his
real answer:

Anders: Look you want to know the truth? [The female reporter's face
looks like "What do you think?" in a cynical way]

Andes: I don't really care about the stats or the Cup or the trophy
anything like that. Um, in fact, even the games aren't that important
to me,  not really. What matters to me is...uh...perfect throw okay?
Making the perfect catch, the perfect....step and block. Its
perfection that is what's its about. It's about those moments when
you........when you can feel the perfection of creation, the..the
beauty of physics, the wonder of mathematics. you know the...the
elation of action....and reaction. That is the kind of perfection I
want to be connected to.

He got his wish but not in the way he wanted. Scene shifts back to
reality and his new life as a Hybrid, connected with perfection, the
Universe:

Hybrid Anders: Spins and turns angles and curves, the shape of dreams
half-remembered. Slip the surly bonds of Earth and touch the face of
perfection. A perfect face, A perfect lace. Find a perfect world for
the end of Kara Thrace. End of Line.

Starbuck [uncomfortable] He's said a lot of things. Go head ask your
question.

Adama [too creeped out]: You ask him!

She doesn't as they just stand there looking at what was once Sam
Anders, Galactica pilot, Resistance leader, and sports superstar in
the flicker chambers light of Galactica's makeshift hybrid Chamber.
He looks like death microwaved at too low a setting.

End Act III

Act IIII

We join Lee Adama and Giaus Baltar having their private chat in an
isolated darkened room with only one light source. Lee doesn't really
want to be there so he points out that Baltar has five minutes and
only five minutes. He tells him to shut the frak up and get to the
point after Baltar says "Let's forget that your the son of the
Admiral". "You got five minutes! Speak!" he demands. Baltar says that
Galactica is not merely a ship but a literal vessel in which they've
poured their hearts and dreams and gain comfort from her presence.
When they don't have that "....then.this life will be over and a new
life will have begun". He goes on to say that a new life requires a
new way of thinking:

Baltar: Now I am willing....to anything [places his right hand over
his heart] anything I can to make this new life a good one. [removes
hand] All I am asking is that my people have a voice in the
government. I represent thousands of people. They...they deserved to
be enfranchised just as much as anyone else I 'm not talking about
myself this is not for me personally. Come on Lee, it makes sense.
You know it's the right thing to do

[Baltar extends his hand for Lee to shake. Lee keeps his hands in his
own pockets. Baltar drops his hand]

Lee: What I know, in that all the years that I've known you I never
seen you make one truly selfless act but I never seen you do
something that didn't on some level serve the needs [voice rising] of
Giaus frakkin Baltar [with contempt] so no, I won't take your hand!
And I won't bring you, or any representative of your movement in to
the government.

Baltar: Right, so uh, so that's what it boils down to: My people
can't get representation because I personally haven't passed Lee
Adama's [Lee walks closer to Baltar who is contemptuous] selfless
altruism test. I've haven't been a goody-goody or wore the badge of
honor [They're face to face now].

Lee: I don't think you have passed Giaus Baltar's test. Go ahead look
me in the eye and tell me about the time that you made a truly heroic
act of conscience which helped you not even in the slightest. TELL
ME! I would even believe you!

[Pause]

Baltar: You're right. I wouldn't trust me either. [He turns to leave
gets to the hatch looks back at Lee briefly and then heads out the
hatch].

Scene shifts to a point in the past of Lee Adama's life. We focused
on a well worn and battered model of a Mark II Viper as someone comes
through the apartment door. It's Lee Adama and he is clearly drunk.
He takes his jacket of and talks to himself. No one else is around.
He dares and double dog dares a person from a recent memory he is
seeing only in his intoxicated fog. He practically falls against the
counter top of the bar sweeping two glasses off of it that go
crashing to the floor. This startles a bird, a pigeon actually that
somehow got into the apartment. It startles the drunken Lee who
staggers after it. "GET OUT OF HERE!"  He chases it up into the
skylight, the same skylight we saw at the very beginning seconds of
the episode right after the galaxy shot It perches on a cross beam.
He picks up a broom determined to shoo it outside. He predictably
ends up knocking over a lamp. It continues to fly around his
apartment. "Stupid frakkin bird!" he says.

Scene shifts back to the present day and Lee exits the small supply
room he and Baltar had their brief meeting. His private assistant
trails him as he strides past Baltar and his girls and pilots and
deckhands. Then his father glides by without saying a word to him. He
turns and then we see Starbuck was following close on his heels with
a spool of orange-red tape. He takes one end and holds it tightly
while Starbuck takes the spool end and then they mutually pull Adama
heading in one direction Starbuck back whence she came walking
backwards. Lee and a growing amount of people stop and wonder what is
going on. They place the tape down on the deck perfectly straight.
Then Adama unnecessarily says:

Adama: May I have your attention please. [Lee steps closer to hear,
clearly not knowing what his dad has in mind.]

Adama: I'm sure you're all aware that a child was abducted from this
ship recently. I thought a rescue mission was impracticable. Well, I
was wrong.

Scene shifts to Hot Dog giving the low down to his fellow pilots:

Hotdog: He didn't say were he got the information but Starbuck was
there so I bet he talked to Anders [pilot hubbub] Yeah, I know,
pretty freaky.

Scene shifts to sickbay:

Ishay [talking to Dr. Sherman Cottle]: He thought a rescue mission
was impractical because he didn't know where she was being held but
that's changed now I guess because he does know where's shes being
held. [Roslin overheard her]

Scene shifts to a corridor and Ellen Tigh walking and talking quickly
with Tory Foster.

Ellen Tigh: Of course knowing where the Colony is not nearly the same
thing as being able to actually get her out.

Tory Foster: This is insane. You know that right?

Ellen: What I know is that Hera has some meaning that transcends the
here and now. She's meant to fulfill a role, just like we were, so
we're going --The five of us.

Tory[indignant]: Oh you're making decisions for all of us now?

Ellen: You'll go Tory. The truth is you can never be alone.

They both past Lee Adama speaking on an intership phone.

Lee: Yeah, the mission is to be uh strictly volunteer only. Any man
or woman over the age of 15. And the Admiral wants any former
Colonial Officers or crewman incarcerated after the recent
mutiny...[other end of the conversation]...Yeah, yeah that's it. [Lee
hangs up]

Cut to CIC

Col Tigh: Everyone has to make there own choice. and they have to do
it in person. The old man is waiting on the hanger deck. Set in port
watch until you get back. Watch keepers report to the Admiral's
Quarters to declare yourselves in person. [people waiting to hear
more] MOVE! [the CIC crew stirs. Tigh speaks to Hoshi directly and
they start to walk together to the hangerdeck]

Tigh: You know what you're going to do?

Hoshi: Not exactly.

Tigh: Well take your time. It takes approximately four minutes to get
down there.

Cut to the Agathon's quarters and the first ray of hope, their
private Daybreak. Helo is buoyant but Athena sitting on the bunk
still in severe morning over the taking of Hera just a few days
before (but not in the near catatonic state like before). She is
clutching a pillow and her head is bowed.

Helo: It's really happening. We're going after her!!

Athena [tears falling but she looks much better than last time]: Or
what's left of her! {her eyes are puffy from crying but she still
looks a lot better than the last time we saw her}.

Athena: Cavil's probably had her sliced and diced and cut up into a
thousand specimens by now

Helo: Stop it! Just....Stop it, okay!? She's still alive and she's
still out there and we'll gonna get her and everything's going to be
all right!

Athena [face gravely serious]. It's not going to be all right Karl.

Helo: No, your wrong! [Backing away toward the hatch]  You're wrong!

[Athena watches him go with a set face.]

End Act IIII

I get a chill that she isn't just taking about Hera being dead. when
she says "It's not going to be all right Karl" I fear there maybe
long term damage to their marriage even if they do get her back.
Maybe the trauma of seeing Helo making love with Boomer and thinking
that he should had known will break the marriage. I fear that Tyrol's
warning of Athena probably going to betray Helo is a grain of truth,
even though Athena might see it as punishment for Helo betraying her
form her POV. I just hope the marriage is not going to be destroyed.
Also playing in her head, although we didn't see it this time, was
the vision of the doors closing and separating her from Hera for
ever, so she may fear that even if Hera is rescued she will still
lose her. I hope Helo's optimistic attitude is called for. If Athena
lets Helo's innocent indiscretion be enough to ruin the marriage,
then perhaps Athena didn't love Helo that much as she thought.

Act V

We come in on Roslin in her bed, her perhaps, deathbed. A flashback
to her old self, her old life. Roslin sitting at a table speaking on
a cell phone while eating some short of confectionery comfort food.
It has been three months since the loss of her family. The friend ask
if she goes out. Roslin protest that she does. Other things we hear
from her side of the conversation is that she didn't care to join
Adar's Presidential Campaign she just doesn't like politics and
national campaigns are dull. The friend persist prompting Roslin to
say the friend is relentless. She makes the friend a deal: She will
go on the blind date if she stops bugging her about the campaign.
Deal. Roslin ask how young is he. Judging from the reaction from
Roslin he's practically jail-bait but she made a deal. "What's Mr.
Perfect's name?" she asks. "Sean... I like that name. Sean what? Sean
Allison? Sounds familiar....okay, alright, bye" and she hangs up. She
takes another bite of her comfort food. Then exhales sharply
realizing she has to go on the date and drops the phone and inch or
two above the table.

We comeback to reality and the completely bald Roslin is sitting on
the edge of her bed.She puts on her wig Then she gets up to dress.

Cut to the almost equipment free hangerbay. It is cavernous however
the front part is paced with people. Almost the entire crew of
Galactica is there, except for essential personal that are at post
that must to be manned at *all* times. In the crowd a lot of people
we know are near the front:

Helo, Tory Foster, the Tighs, Athena, Lt. Hoshi, Caprica Six, Sherman
Cottle, Ishay, Tyrol is (out of the brig), Hot Dog and others are
there. Adama is standing on a cockpit lander the type the pilots use
to climb in and out of their fighters (he looks like he is in a
walker). In front of him  to his left (our right) is his son
President of the Colonies Leland Joseph Adama. To his right is his
surrogate daughter Captain Kara Thrace. All assembled are listening
to Adama's booming voice:

Adama [from the top of his lungs]: NO ONE SHOULD FEEL OBLIGATED TO
JOIN THIS MISSION IN ANY WAY. THIS IS A DECISION I HAVE MADE FOR
MYSELF! IF IT TURNS OUT THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PERSONNEL TO CREW
GALACTICA , I WILL LEAD A RAPTOR ASSAULT WITH ANYONE WHO IS WILLING
TO JOIN ME. LET THERE BE NO ILLUSIONS, THIS IS LIKELY TO BE A ONE-WAY
TRIP! SO DON'T VOLUNTEER OUT OF SENTIMENT OR EMOTION. THERE IS A LINE
RUNNING DOWN THIS DECK.

The assembly who are centered with Adama looks down and see it and
the assembly spits into halves

Adama: VOLUNTEERS! MOVE TO THE STARBOARD SIDE; EVERYONE ELSE, TO THE
PORT!

Adama climbs down off the ladder and makes his way to the line and
just a few steps in front of his children (Lee and Starbuck) Everyone
is quiet. No one has made a move across the divide to volunteer or
state with their feet that they are not going. They just look at each
other and around to see if anyone is moving, Foster's head is on a
swivel. Some are exactly were they want to be. Helo is already on the
starboard side of the line as is Athena and Starbuck. However Caprica
Six, the Tighs, Foster and Baltar are all on the "wrong side". Adama
grows impatient.

Adama: MAKE YOUR CHOICE!!

A few more seconds, the Lee who happened to be on the port side
crosses in front of his father. They lock eyes and then he finishes
his cross to the starboard. Then the Tighs make their move across.
Then Hot Dog. Then Cottle makes his move to cross to the starboard
but Adama stops him and puts his arm around him.

Adama: Doc, We can't afford to loose a doctor. Go on back Sherman,
and thank you..

Ishay who was crossing with the doctor stays on the starboard side.
Then Caprica Six, who had recently lost her own baby before it was
even born crosses over for the mission-in a cocktail dress-She and
Adama lock eyes as she does. Baltar seeing that Caprica Six is going
has a surprised look on his face. More people start to cross over.
Including several marines. Then Tyrol crosses over to
starboard....dragging Tory Foster, his fiancée of 40 years ago before
Cavil robbed them of their true memories, with him. As Helo and Hoshi
look on he says to her:

Tyrol [to Tory snidely]: Like you have something better to do.

It seems that Skulls a mutineer is crossing over to the starboard
side, the right side, the side of right. So does Racetrack. As more
people cross in both directions Baltar stares at Caprica Six. Caprica
Six gazes at Baltar, she wants him to join him. Baltar looks down at
the deck and at the line. His body quivers and shakes as if he is
trying to engage his feet to crossover. But he fails. Then the last
of the feet find where they want to be and the commute ceases. Except
for one more. Making her way through the crowd is a feeble old woman.
All eyes are on the former President of the Colonies and Fleet Laura
Roslin. Some eyes are wide with astonishment as she could barely put
one foot in front of the other. It is the total and complete opposite
of her manic run a couple of months before in show time in "A
Disquiet that Follows My Soul" She shakes like a  someone afflicted
with a mild form of Parkinson's Disease.

Roslin [to unknown]: Excuse me, thank you. [shivers in effort]

[Adama looks at her lovingly. Adama walks down the line to meet her
half way. Baltar still on the portside sees Roslin coming. Adama
reaches her and puts a supporting arm around her]

Roslin: You didn't think you were gonna to take off without me
Admiral, did you?

Adama: Never crossed my mind Madam President.

As they make their way forward Specialist Delino can be seen on the
starboard side head bowed. Adama puts her in the capable hands of
Starbuck. It wasn't all that long ago that Roslin took a shot at
Starbuck suspecting that she may be a Cylon after she came back from
the dead. Adama stands on the centerline and surveys who crossed over
and who didn't. There are twice as many people on the portside as
they are on the Starboard side. Given the mission was tantamount to a
suicide mission it is a very good show of bravery and determination.

Scene sifts to Raptor 279 on a recon mission. It has made the jump.
The crew includes a newly released mutineers Lt. Magaret "Racetrack"
Edmondson and Lt. Hemish "Skulls" McCall. They jumped into an
obstacle course:

Racetrack: Jump complete....[Proximity alarm sounds and she sees
something] FRAK!!! [She jams the Raptor to starboard hard to avoid a
asteroid] Plot us the way the hell back out of here!!!

Skulls: Right, you got it!

Racetrack: Figures a brain damaged Cylon would send us hunting into
the middle of an asteroid field!!

Skulls: The more things change, the more they stay the same!  Well
you got a recon mission where someone needs to hang their ass over
the edge and wait for a bite, send Racetrack and Skulls!!

Racetrack [smiling over Skulls gallows humor] Well, beats sitting in
a cell!

Skulls: Long range DRADIS has just picked something up: Holy FRAK!
We're on top of a singularity!

Racetrack: A BLACK HOLE!?!? Where away?

Skulls: 783 CAROM 882 We're already sliding toward it!!!

Racetrack: [frightened] Spinup the FTL we're getting outta here!!!

Skulls [flabbergasted] Oh Frak me!!!!!

Racetrack: What!?!?

Skulls: Your not going to believe this!!

{No doubt Racetrack and Skulls are the first humans to ever lay eyes
on the Cylon homeworld}

Scene shifts back to Galactica after Racetrack and Skulls gets back
with the intelligence. Admiral Adama, Colonel Tigh, Captain Thrace
Tory Foster, Ellen Tigh, Galen Tyrol and President Lee Adama-who was
in uniform but without rank insignia.

Starbuck: Based on coordinates we got from Sam we have determined
that the Cylon Colony is located here.

Lee: It's within our jump range but there's a sizable catch:

Starbuck: It's located within an accretion disk of a naked
singularity

Lee: It's a strategically sound position. The Colony's bound within
the gravity well of the Black hole but maintains a stable orbit

Col. Tigh: How do we get in there? Look at all the crap floating
around that current.

Starbuck: There is noway to navigate that current. The tidal stresses
are too strong. It would rip the ship apart before we got within 10
SU

Lee: But there is one safe jump spot. Its were they bring their
Baseships in and out

Starbuck: We got lucky. Two Baseships jumped in and out while the
Raptor was taking pictures. [points to a tactical map] This right
here is our only parking spot.

Tigh [astonished] That's right on top of the Frakkin thing!

Lee: Less than one klick by our estimate.

Tigh [astonished]: One klick!?!

Adama: Point blank range.

Tigh: You can bet that they'll have every gun in that Colony pointed
at that parking spot of yours!

Lee: That's what I'd do. Leave only one way in or out, make it
impossible to get past the gates.

Admiral Adama: All right [long pause, looking at the recon photos]
let's get to work!

End of episode. To be continued.

***********************
I am sure for you action junkies out there this was a slow episode.
For those who like character driven plots it was a good one. In the
beginning we got to see a little more of the lives of the characters
they led before the Fall which I did enjoy and at time cringed, like
Baltar with his mutually abusive father son dynamic and the
humiliation of it having played out in front of the future Caprica 6.
Seeing Starbuck happy and care free was great! But it was sad because
we all know what is ahead of her beginning with the death of Zak
Adama but it was good to see how she was before the roof caved in.
Lee liked to get drunk which is surprising given how controlled he is
now. And we saw how Lee and Kara met and there was a spark there and
the foreshadowing about Lee stealing Zak's girl well, it did come
true after a fashion. Then there was Caprica Six doing a solid for
both Baltars. It was nice. After seeing all that I for the life of me
can't figure out what Six sees in Baltar. Maybe we will get a little
more biography next week.

Damn, Roslin lost four people in her family, her dad and her two
sisters plus the middle sisters unborn child. Then her break down at
the fountain. But she seemed to have recovered somewhat of her
cheerfulness after three months but of course this is before she
learned she had cancer. One thing though, Roslin was so much older
than her sisters. Are they half sisters from a relationship by her
father after her biological mother died or divorced? Or maybe they
just put off having a second child for about 15 years while they got
on with their careers? Well, despite her age at the time she was like
a little girl with her sisters. Very happy.

It was moving to see all those people volunteer for a potential
suicide mission, still, as one would expect most didn't volunteer. It
would had been unrealistic if they did.. Baltar couldn't bring
himself to volunteer. If you look at the scene you can actually see
his body moving forward slightly but he literally couldn't get his
feet to move LOL! Then Roslin out of what may had been literally her
death bed comes shuffling up. It must had taken her an hour to get
down there from sickbay! It probably shamed Baltar which is why he
will go next week despite what you didn't see in part I. He has to
redeem himself. Before that Baltar almost got hit again. Don't grab
Lee's arm!! Lee of course was right about Baltar. Can Baltar prove
him wrong?

Tyrol is bitter bitter, bitter. As I said in a post recently Tyrol
now knows what Gaeta felt. I disagree totally about what he said
about his fellow Cylons, especially the Eights. They are not all the
same! Yes, they have the same base personality, but their life
experiences makes them different. Athena is different from Boomer who
are both different from a Generic Eight. Tyrol, like Gaeta was, is
just hurt to the core.

Athena is doing a little better, but I was a bit disappointed about
her fatalism. I guess it is too hurtful to hope. The marriage is
under heavy strain though. Notice that Helo and Athena didn't stand
together during the call for volunteers. They are both going but they
stood about 10 feet apart This was different than when they thought
Hera was still born. It kind of brought them together after a while
at least. Hopefully this and his sleeping with Boomer by mistake
won't kill the marriage.

Speaking of Boomer. She will NOT stand by and let Hera be
dissected. She will redeem herself and will betray Cavil for real. She
clearly didn't like what Cavil was doing with Hera. I just wish she
saw what Cavil was about before she stole Hera. It shouldn't be a
surprised given how he hates himself and humans and how he treated
his own kind. It should had been obvious. Oh!! We saw A Simon and a
Doral. Long time no see!! Not since the Hub anyway, maybe before that
even.

It is real sad that there are going to be people who will be
forgotten forever from the Memorial Wall. They got killed and now the
people who knew and loved them are dead. Someone should get those
pictures even if they don't know them from Adam (or Adama). It
doesn't seem right. As mentioned above, Athena has given up her
daughter for dead. But if she hadn't she wouldn't had put that image
up on the wall. For Adama to see. Which intern spurred him to action
so Athena's lake of faith and hope-I'm sure it was Athena and not
Helo since he never gave up hope it seems-that spurred this rescue
mission. Talk about ironies.

Well, that was most of the important things for this setup episode
(or part I for this episode if you prefer. Regardless it almost all
comes to an end next week. Time sure flew by from early January when
we started the second half of season four. Now for the last time the
previews for next week.

***********************

Well, this is it the last preview of the regular series and looking
at it it doesn't give away much. We see Lee Adama stalking the halls
of the Colony  in his pressure suit so they used a Raptor or Heavy
Raider to board the Colony I suspect, so we know they get on board.
Mostly we see a fire fight in CIC involving Starbuck, Caprica Six and
Adama firing on a Doral, a Simon and a Cavil who is ducking for cover
of course. Interestingly no Leobens in sight, but these are only
previews  Galactica taking a pounding. Who is Baltar pointing a gun
on? I know it is not Roslin. There is a close up shot of a very
intense looking Tyrol with his face bathed in yellow and white light
glare. Is he killing Hybrid Anders? He is bathed in Golden light too
Will he kill Boomer? Will he kill Tory if he finds out what she did
to Cally? Will Athena kill Boomer? Will Helo Kill Boomer (maybe not
since he was so surprisingly nice to Tyrol)? Will any of the Five
besides Tyrol kill Boomer? Or, will Boomer be killed by Cavil for
turning against him? As I said, it is her last chance for redemption,
even if she doesn't survive It's amazing but before she dies, She
will redeem herself. She *will not* let Hera be killed! She will go
out doing the right thing but I don't think Boomer will survive to
see the end credits. Yeah I can see Cavil killing her, his pet Eight.

Someone sticking a neon blue colored device into a console and
twisting to the right. I sense self destruct!

I believe we see the Cavils, Dorals and Simons aboard because they
want to capture the Final Five to recreate Resurrection. I mean why
board? Just pound the Galactica from afar. They must had boarded for
something.  Perhaps that would be the motivation for Tyrol killing
Anders-if that is what's happening-To keep Anders from falling into
Cavil's hands. Lose one of the Finals, you lose the technology

One thing more that can happen with the destruction of the Colony.
Last week I said that the Galactica is going to sail into the Colony
and detonate itself blowing the Colony up. I now believe that somehow
Galactica will push the Colony into the Black Hole and Galactica
could follow. A Black Hole is a focus of space time. What better way
and at what better place to start the cycle again? And  I think they
will end up right back on Kobol or another planet.

Nine down one more to go and the party's over for good!!! No sequel
TV show, no sequel movies. Wasn't it just last week we were getting
ready to look at "Sometimes a Great Notion"? Be warned before hand:
Because the Series Finale is going to be two hours long it is going
to take me twice as long to get my final Synopsis of the Series out.
Instead of Monday morning/Afternoon, it may be Wednesday morning even
Thursday morning since I intend to be in the newsgroup posting about
the finale. I don't want to miss the discussions. Odds are great that
next week won't be the absolutely last Synopsis I will do. I fully
intend to do one for "The Plan" I may even do one for "Razor" I had
been meaning to do one for months but I will likely do it before "The
Plan" airs-(or is it coming out straight to video?) and release the
"Razor" one around the same time so no one misses it.

Gods I will miss this show. I will save those thoughts for next week
when I will be in a depression almost as bad as Athena's.
