>I type these recaps in real time, as the show is broadcast.

How can you get any real enjoyment from the show if you type and watch at
the same time? Just asking.

> Recap - Hollywood Cuts, broadcast on 2/14/2006

> The contestants are rehearsing and performing in groups of three. There is
> all of the usual drama and interpersonal tension.

Would it be AI if there wasn't?

> The contestants return to the hotel at 2:00 a.m. Paris is going to bed.

> Some of the contestants still want to rehearse. Terrell Brittenum is
> annoyed that two of his groups members - Elliott and Sway - went to bed.
> That wasn't the plan. He wakes them up and talks down to them. "This is
> unacceptable," he tells Elliot. "I. Don't. Do. Groups!," he says to the
> camera. He goes to breakfast with two hours sleep. Now he's annoyed that
> Elliot is having breakfast.

LOL, your recaps are so freaking hilarious. I don't remember: did they
practice at all before Elliot and Sway went to bed? Or did Elliot and Sway
just go to bed without practicing, a least a little? If it's the latter, I
can see Terrel's point. If it's the former, Terrell should ease up. One
can't practice without refreshing the body, and that includes food, too.

> This other chick, Tyra has an attitude about her group. She left them in a
> huff earlier, and now they're practicing without her.

> Several of the girls are showing off some nice cleavage at breakfast.

MMMMMM, that fit model. Yummy.

> Terrell is ticked at his brother now because his group is ready, but
> Terrell's isn't.

Ok, now Terrell is really starting to annoy me.

> [break]

> I would be one of the ones going to bed while my group members get mad at
> me.

That would depend on when I was scheduled to perform. If I had the first
time slot, I probably would practice throughout the night, or until I knew I
had it down. If it was toward the end of the day, I would go to sleep, and
practice first thing in the morning, after breakfast, of course. If I was
in the middle somewhere, I would probably practice an hour or two the night
before, and then practice in the morning.

> [return]

> Paris Bennett is the first singer to go up. She sounds OK.

I want to believe in Paris, but she sounded terrible to me.

> Anthony Hansen goes next first for the troubled boys group. His voice is
> thin, but he is on pitch.

Anthony wasn't good.

>Elliott sounds very good, I think.

The best of the bunch, and one of my leading males now, plus William Makar.

>Jose "Sway"
> Penala sounds pretty decent, but his enunciation is off.

I don't remember him.

>Terrell
> Brittenum sounds good.

Actually, I don't think he did; his brother is better.

>Now he's complaining to the judges about Jose and

> Elliott not rehearsing enough. Randy says that Elliott was the best of
> them all, which is true. Simon says that Terrell sounded bad and is was a
> bad group performance. Anthony goes home. All the others go through to
> the next round. Now Terrell is blaming Anthony - who he just described as
> "tone deaf" - for ruining the group's performance. Anthony has no idea
> why he was cut.

LOL, Terrell is a piece of work. Everyone is to blame but him. I'm sure if
the judges had bashed Elliott, it would be Elliott who ruined their
performance.

> [break]
> [return]

> Kevin Covais sounds a little shaky. Josh Jordan sounds bad. David Radford
> is no better. William Makar, in contrast, sounds great. The backing vocals
> were pathetic. All four of them pass.

William Makar is da man! What did Paula mean when she said he wasn't ready
for this during the initial auditions? That was him, right? Man, of the
ones we have seen, he is the best male there, and quite possibly, the best
singer as well. I just hope he can keep it up. I'm a fan.

> The groups have little names for themselves - Epiphany, the Try Hards,
> etc.

> A chick named Tyra left one group to go to another.

> Derrell Brittenum sounds pretty decent. He gets to go through. He wants to
> talk now. He says "my spirit has been broken." He says he's leaving the
> competition because his brother was mistreated. Those two guys are always
> in a bad mood.

LOL!

> Mandisa Hundley's group is well-rehearsed. Brooke Barretsmith is a babe
> and also sounds good. Sarah E____ sounds average. Mandisa, Sarah, and
> Brooke made it through. Brooke has writing on the back of her hand. I take
> it that the fourth girl was cut.

Can't remember them well enough to comment.

> [break]
> [return]

> A lot of the contestants have lyrics written on their bodies. A lof them
> are messing up the words anyway.

> Tyra is leaving her second group again and wants to go back to her first
> group. They don't want her back because there are only 30 minutes left,
> but they let her back anyway.

> The group that Tyra left is up now. Meredith Bandas can't remember the
> words. Leah Barrettsmith isn't ready either. A girl named Laruen is cut.
> So is Meredith. So is Leah. Brooke (Leah's sister) is bawling. They are
> hugging in a bathroom stall. That's hot.

They were terrible. Tyra made the right choice. Why did she leave her
first group in the first place? Personality conflicts or something?

> Now Derrell is apologizing and wants to come back. Simon says, "I am fed
> up with your hissy attitude." He's griping Terrell out. Terrell keeps
> wanting to interrupt, but Simon won't let him. He will let them know later
> what they decide.

> Celeste Scalone, Shontai Kinnik Sky, Tyra Schwartz, and Nicole Turk are
> performing. They all sound pretty good, not fantastic. Celeste, Nicole,
> and Shontai go through. So does Tyra.

Pretty sneaky of them.......

Tyra has too deep of a voice for me, reminds me of Cher somehow. I agree
with your assessment; pretty good, not fantastic, certainly not top twelve
material.

> Marcy Smith is mad hot. My eyes are fixed on her swaying pelvis.

Eh, too thin for me.

> Brenna

> ____ slaps her butt.

That was hot.

>There's a dude singing with them.

Pretty lucky guy.

> Paula says that
> Marcy forgot some words. I didn't even notice. Marcy says there was
> friction in the group. Brenna says she was the difficult one, and she
> makes no apologies for it. The dude is named Nick. He goes through. Both
> of the girls do too.

> The cowboy poser group is up next. There's a prepared video to introduce
> them. They are Garet Johnson, Matthew Beckstein, and Michael Evans. They
> will take the stage after the break.

> [break]
> [return]

> The Brittenum twins take the stage again to learn their fate. The judges
> have decided to let them stay.

Must be for the entertainment value, oh, god, please let it just be for the
entertainment value......

Oh, well, if I had to pick one brother, it would be Durrell.

> Michael Evans is messing up the words. Matthew Beckstein is doing OK.
> Garet is horrible, both in voice and words. He knows he stinks; he's
> looking at the floor of the stage. Simon said that it was a horrible
> performance, which it was. It was like a group of drunk guys performing in
> front of a bunch of people who don't care. They are all going home.
> Michael is choked up about it. They are taking it hard. Matthew is
> consoling Garet. Is this all scripted, too? We're seeing more video of
> Garet, for some reason. Buh-bye, you poser.

I'm glad they all went home, but it was nice to see that there was no ill
will toward Garrett after the performance. There is hope for mankind. I
hope Garrett practices and practices and comes back in a couple of years, so
he's more confident, more polished, not as green, and wiser. He wasn't
ready, but maybe in a couple of years, he will be. I wish him well.

> [break]

> Next on "House, M.D." ... House breaks the rules and takes desperate
> measures to save a patient's life.

And there will be several wrong diagnosis during the show, until House pulls
a Sherlock Holms and saves the patient.

I just started watching this show on DVD's from Netflix. I'm hooked.

> [return]

> The remaining contestants are going to perform a capella now. We saw very
> little of these performances ... only enough to know that Taylor Hicks is
> still in the competition.

> Now Seacrest tells us that the judges are making their decisions. The
> contestants are split up into four separate rooms.

> Room 1 has Gina Glockson, Tyra Schwartz, and Nicole Turk. They are cut.

Bye, Tyra! You just couldn't cut it.....

> Room 2 has Sway and Leah. They pass.
> Simon has to leave for something or other. Randy and Paula carry on.

> Room 3 has Paris, Taylor, and Darrell. They pass.

> Room 4 heard two rooms down the hall cheering, so they're pretty sure
> they're cut. They pass anyway. This group had Terrell in it.

And Kelli Pickler. Man, I was sweating......

Oh, and I think William Makar was in there, too.

I was double sweating.....

> Seacrest says that 44 contestants made it through. On the next show, 12
> guys and 12 girls will be selected.

Cool! I had thought we had another week of the Hollywood auditions left, so
I'm glad to know that the really good stuff will start next week.

Good recap, 'Toshi.

Hey, that sounds like tushy. Anyway....
