I backed him up (on bass) a couple of months ago at Westminster
College in New Wilmington, PA. His conductor on piano, a young drummer
from the local U, a jazz guitar colleague of mine, and myself, on
stage behind him. Still funny as hell, perhaps his impersonations
aren't as sharp as they used to be, but also to be considered, 1. a
good percentage of the folks he does well are dead [tho he still does
Paul Lynde in his show!!] and 2. without a so-called "adult" variety
outlet for his type of entertainment (i..e Carson) his mass audience
TV-wise isn't there anymore. Hate to say it but it was largely a
bluehair-kinda audience that night. Didn't take away at all from how
good he is, tho. Down to earth too and not terribly "dig-me",
pleasant.

ObRMD: So how well-ensconced is the "First Family Rides Again" album
in the land of Dementia? I passed it over zillions of times in the
stores, just couldn't make the commitment to buy it. He does a good
Reagan, but I guess by now the humor must be quite dated (then again I
may be wrong)
